John Foster

Sept. 26, 2006

John Foster passed away last weekend. John was one of the original members of COPA and without his passion for the environment, our environment in Monroe County, COPA would never have had the success id did in helping to stop the building of the Westinghouse Hazardous Waste Incinerator and hazardous waste landfill.

John was able to lead the EPA to additional contaminated areas and provide both the EPA and others with detailed information as to how and where much of the PCBs were dumped.

John Foster attended hundreds of meetings and spend countless hours and his own money in looking for better ways to clean up the PCBs and our environment. John helped educate me on the issues and was a trusted friend concerning all issues related to how COPA could help. From the first time I met John in 1990 he left an impression on me. He truly cared for those living near contaminated sites, Westinghouse workers and others effected by the PCBs dumped in Monroe and Owen counties.

He cared, he gave and he gave some more. John was always giving, lending a hand, and he will be missed by all of us.
